I love the safariland speedloaders for k-frame 38s, specifically the Comp-II version.
If you shop around they can be had for 11-12 bucks, and they are very secure, very fast, and very compact.
Bianchi speed strips if you need something flat to stick in your pocket.

Default HKS and Tuff Products

I'm a fan of the tried and true HKS speedloaders, and Tuff Products Quick Strips. I have them for my J, K, and N frame revolvers and have never had an issue. Even have some HKS for my Colt Python! They're all very affordable and available. Just my 2 cents.

The Safariland Comp Speed-loaders excel on the range where the bulk is not a consideration. The strips' main advantage is they fit in a pocket neatly. The HKS speedloaders are reliable, plentiful and easy to find, but not as fast for PPC type games as the Safariland.

The Bianchi speed strips only accommodate six rounds .38/357 but are softer and somewhat more pliable than the Tuff strips. The Tuff strips come in a variety of sizes and calibers, like the 5 round version in .44 I use with the Charter Arms Bulldog.

Bianchi speed strips seem to hold up well. 8-) My Tuff Products speed strips
start to fall apart very quickly and break if you drop them. 8-(

I still have a couple of Charter Arms Bulldogs.
Wish I'd never sold the 2.5" heavy barrel Bulldog I had in the early 1990s. Live and learn.

I've always used HKS and Bianchi Speed-Strips. Never saw much reason to change.

While I have a fair number
of Comp II Safarilands for
S&W L-frames and Ruger
GP100s, I still gravitate to
the HKS loaders. Never
found the HKS models to
be a handicap. The twist
knob after years is a natural
to me.

But then I'm not involved
in such competitions where
fractions of seconds count
while mowing down a
dozen or more adversaries
hidden in a multitude of "rooms."

One thing I learned when I
did some of those competitions,
the adversaries always waited
for me to take that extra time
to use my old-fashioned HKSes.
