Default 29-2

New to the forum. Just picked up an almost new 29-2 with presentation box. 8.375" bbl. Blue lining is shot, but had screwdriver, cleaning rod/brush/mop.
Think it was made around the time "Dirty Harry" came out and whoever bought it, shot one box thru it and put it up.
S/N is 31XXXX. I also have its twin that I bought back in late '75 or so is 32XXXX and I probably put 25k thru it and its kind of "loose" I am going to guess that the one I just bought is a late '74 or early '75. Am I close to mfg date?

Thanks

The serial number should start with "N" on a 29-2 so not sure what you have there.

If it has a N prefix with those numbers, N300000 range is 1975-76; however, N200000 is 1974-77, according to SCSW. Your guess is about right. I'd love to see a M29-2 that's had 25,000 rounds through it, got any pictures?

If it's an N prefix, mid 70's.

There were also plenty of 29-2s with S prefix. In that case, 310xxx would be late 60s.

Right you are - the OP needs to tell exactly what it is. Or take a picture of the SN.

I would estimate both of your Model 29-2s shipped in 1976 if the serial number is preceded by an N; if the serial number is preceded by an S, then in 1969.

Bill

I believe N1 (a Model 28-2) was shipped in 1970. I have N925 (a Model 28-2) that shipped in May 1970.

I have a 28-2 with N304, not sure when it shipped but I'm guessing 1970.
