Default Model 48 question...

Have had several 48s with the extra .22 Rimfire cylinder (S-L-LR) but only one was factory original. Sold the gun some time ago and it was in the original box....but can't remember

Can someone tell me when a 48 originally came from the factory with the extra Rimfire cylinder was a) the cylinder marked with the guns serial number like the Model 53 and b) was the end label marked indicating an extra cylinder...

(and the same question as to the 51, 650 and 651)

Thanks...Bob

As I recall the extra cyl was a special order item. And as many times as not, marked on the outside bottom of the box with the serial # instead of the end label. Just dependent upon which employee packaged the gun for shipping.

Just noticed there is a S&W Model 650 with both cylinders and original box over in the classified... It has an end label indicating "Special Features"....
