Bodyguard
Came across this M38 no dash for a C note less than the "new" Bodyguard 38s sell for. Clean, no cracks. Wear on the cylinder indicates its been carried some but not much evidence of a lot of firing. Like the way the Pachs feel in my hand, so I may try shooting some with them before I decide whether to switch them out.
I had been looking for an understudy to the 642 and really wanted a steel frame J, but hey...
I'll try for better pics after a good cleaning.

I have a nickel model 38, and the DA trigger is great. It had pacs, and the originals. I decided to change to the ultimate old school no-holster for it.

I really do like the looks of the older bodyguards. Congratulations on your find.

They are fantastic little revolvers. My late lady friend had one with the same grip. A very good shooter.

You did very well on that buy..........
and it is a super old revolver to be added to yor collection.
Enjoy many years of fun shooting if it will not be a safe queen.

None of my guns are safe queens. One or two are quarantined awaiting restoration. This one was bought to carry.

I love and hate the Bodyguard - lol.
I think for a pocket revolver it makes a lot of sense and would be a fantastic choice - especially for holster-less carry (which I don't do but some do). Shrouds the hammer but still allows for SA cocking if desired. So why do I hate it - It's down right ugly!
That said, I'd take a Bodyguard any day over the Centennial.

When I was a young guy I could not abide the humpback.
I've grown wiser, maybe, and they've grown on me.
I like the lightness of the Bodyguard Airweight (shipped in July '56 before there were model numbers), but I prefer the substantial feel of the Model 49 (shipped in April '68).
I much prefer the taller (almost large horn) grips than the standard Chiefs Special grips S&W switched to in '69. My second Airweight -- a Model 38 -- shipped in November '69.
