I have one that is slightly used. I would gladly take fifteen grand for it. I am not greedy. Contact me right away. This is going to go quick.

It is entirely possible the 629 in question was owned by Elvis.

Sure, some say he died in 1977.

Now, look at who is being naive.

I agree with several of the posters above that it will be relisted and the outrageous sale will never be consummated with the exchange of gun and cash...

BUI. Bidding under the Influence.

So much fun it should be illegal.

I still think an early 29 or 27 would be the best investment for someone buying a S&W revolver but one would have to use some discretion on the purchase price.

I don't own one and wouldn't know what that would be. $2500 would be my limit.

There’s a 629-1 with 6” barrel on GB with opening bid of $1698. It’s in good condition not great. It’s described as a RARE DASH ONE. What am I missing? Not much of a written description. It has wood stocks. My dash one has Hogue rubber which I thought were original to the gun.

Don't forget sales tax too, these days!

I say those auctions that turn out like that are bogus.

People with that much money aren't stupid in spending it.

A 2000 dollar guns that goes for 3 ok, but not these types of dollar amounts.

For 19,000 I would go on a road trip and deliver it myself. I have one with the wooden presentation case.

I sent an email asking what is rare about it. It has been shot a lot, screws are buggered, and it has tapped holes in the rib above the barrel.

Just landed this GB purchase 2 weeks ago for $1100 plus shipping as Buy Now. No box but it's like new. Serial number N778306. Think I'll consider flipping for a measly $9999.99.

Really crazy prices out there for sure.

How do you check to see if bidder actually pays up?

There is a lot of BIG MONEY and DILIGENT people getting out of the stock market. That money has to go somewhere. Housing,Car Washes,Industrial Parks are going bonkers. Why not FIREARMS!!! We on this S&W forum are a knowledgeable group BUT the rest of the general public ? I wouldn't give you $.02 for that PO# on gun broker. IMHO

I guess you can look to see if feedback is left. If the seller is not paid, he should have to leave negative feedback. Otherwise, Gunbroker will want their cut, as well as, the state.

Either shill bidding, or simply money laundering...take your pick.

Oh well;
Shipping was $50.
I wonder, out of curiosity, what the shipping insurance cost was $$$$$$ :-)

I saw their table but didnt stop. Not saying there was shill bidding going on or BR are liars but some of their descriptions are IMO entertaining and a stretch at best. Some items they list as "rare", etc are to me questionable and the old saying "do your homework" should not be forgotten... They do offer some nice guns though.

I'm almost positive they were the seller that had a rare 17-4 UNDERLUGGED 22. Clearly a barrel change , it was talked about here a bit. Of course they never said it wasnt a barrel change, just listed it rare.I guess that part is true not many 17-4s with under lugged barrels on them. I sent them a message asking about it but received no answer. I liked it better when if you asked a question about a gun the question and the response was left on the sale ad. Again I agree to some point that "let the buyer beware".
Wasn't there another big seller that was also in Liberty KY. Strange that that small a town would have 2 such businesses.

Many, many years ago, I was bidding on a motorcycle part on ebay for one of my vintage dirt bikes. I noticed that a person that I know, and had raced against in vintage motocross, was one of the other bidders. No way I was going to let him get it. I won the auction. The part is still sitting on a shelf in my garage. Never used it. Didn't really need it. It was petty on my part, but I can see how these things happen.

You would think anyone who could afford $20,000 for that revolver could also afford to have a company make a special (one-off) gun just for himself/herself. It's now probably a useless firearm that will never see a firing range; plus, will it ever get resold higher than what was paid for it? I'm no millionare so I don't know what it's like to throw away (in my eyes) $20 Gs.

I checked the winning bidder's feedback on GB.

Nothing but A+, but that particular auction and seller is not on this feedback list yet.

Stopped looking at gunbroker a while back. Once they started charging tax, and the prices got insane, its not worth the time.

It amuses me when gun owners make comments about the value of a firearm that they own as if the crazy auction had some kind of a direct effect on the value of their gun. I don’t think crazy auctions do, but normal auctions do as most of us know how hard we worked for those dollars. At least I do. Plus the majority of us on these forums are shooters and collectors not gun investors. Big dif. And who is going to sell their grail gun that they searched years for, even for a pile of money? Not me.

So, keeping track of the sale of the $20K 629 No Dash...

So far no feedback left by the seller or the buyer.

You'd think with that kind of purchase there would be some feedback.
