I was looking at gunbroker and saw this...
http://www.gunbroker.com/Aucti...m.asp?Item=127831621
It looks like a matte finish or maybe a lousy blue job?? Did the factory do this or is this an after market finish? Just curious. I prefer bright shiny blue myself.

I now see that they say it is not the original finish. I should have read the description and not just looked at the picts.
Sorry.

It's also an ugly finish at that.

Sad way to treat a fine weapon. The seller is very proud of it even in that condition

His description of 95% to 97% is "just a little OFF". It looks like either a bead blast matt blue or one of the new spray on finish's. Either way, terrible unless you are looking for something to throw under the seat of your car, for about $250.

I'd pay 250 for that, but 650 is way out of line.

The price is way off, but I kind of like the parkerized look. Who knows how bad the original finish was before it got parked. I think the best he could get would be $375-$425 at most.

I have gotten all my old S&W M 10s parkerized because on my 2 incher, the bluing was all off on the cylinder and frame almost. And my 2 4 inch M10s barrels were turning brown to redish brown coloring. All these 3 were my late cop friends guns when I saw them at the pawn shop that I have been doing my gun business for over 35 years and the dealer friend of mine took the guns guts out and took it to the plater down the street and for $35.00 each had them parkerized and put back together and oiled in the right places. And I still group with them at 25 yards between 2-to 3,5 inch groups for 30 year old M10s. rz625-8

Seller's had it on the Calguns.net forum for sale since it came off Gunbroker, he hasn't had any luck selling it to us Smith starved Cali buyers either.

Yep, $250 car gun at best if it is mechanically sound.
I do wonder what kind of shape it was in before the park job. Perhaps this is an improvement. Who knows...

In ways it is cool looking, kinda like a 28. But to do that to a nice blue 19. NO.
I thought there was a pict that showed a boogered up screw holding the side plate on, maybe that was a different gun. I avoid guns with boogered screws as it indicates fooling around by those who have should not fool around.
