Default Price Check on a No Dash 66?

Have a line on one. What’s it worth? Perhaps in a gun broker situation? Great shape original stocks no box.

Thanks

4” with target trigger. Someone took it before me. Clearly someone who knew more about it than me. Not sure I want to know what it’s worth now lol

Looks like you got your answer regarding it's pricing. The 66 is a sought after gun and the early P/R no dash and -1 are the most sought after of the series.

P&R K frames in 2.5" & 4", right now, are hotter than a June bride on Georgia asphalt.

66s in NRA VG and VG+ and up are starting at around $750-799, with 2.5" bringing significant premium. Matching box, add 15-20%, docs and tools add another 10-15%. 6" guns are also seeing modest gains.

You see a 4" No Dash or-1 , at $600-650, you should immediately buy imo.

Local/Pawnshops are your best options perhaps, as there are certainly regional variations in price, Gunbroker, as a national forum, is seeing significant price surges.

Three years ago on GB, two no dash with 4" bbl's went for the crazy price of...................$1,350.00 each. How do I know? I cashed one of those checks.

The collecting fraternity has “discovered” the early Model 66s and the chances of finding a reasonably priced shooter have evaporated faster than sanity at a political rally. When I think back on the tables full of LEO trade-ins at gun shows in the early ‘80s, I get teary eyed. If you paid more than about $200 for a ND or -1 in excellent condition, you were a spendthrift!

Oh well, “If I knew then...”

I guess I need to review my current valuations vs contemporary market.

When we went to qualify last time for our LEOSA
The range officer asked my wife if she wanted to
trade her 66 for a NIB Glock.
When asked why he wanted to do that he replied
"I like antique guns".
1975 S&W 66 ND.

I paid $225 for an almost new (back then) M66-1 in 1978. In the box, 4" barrel, 3-T gun. Sold it for 3X that in about 2005. Don't ask why I sold it, I have no clue. Must have been temporary insanity.

Default 66 no dash 2.5 barrel

My 66 no dash 2.5 inch barrel with SW holster 21 32. Curious today approximate value and if no dash has problems solved with various dash updates.

A year ago I needed to unload two 66’s from a group buy I did. A 4” and a 6” in 95% condition. Both were triple T and P&R. It took multiple trips to gun shows to get $600.00 each for them.

My NIB 4” M66 was purchased in ‘73 and put away in a safe until I got it for $600 two years ago.

The 3” and 2.5” are in the highest demand. They made more 4” in the 70s and 80s though.

Decided to sell my 66 no dash yesterday. Almost double what I paid but sure will miss it. Not looking for another SW pre 27 to take it’s place.
