Default K-22 Masterpiece Age?

Hi:

I'm trying to figure out the age on this K-22. According to the standard catalog, manufacturing started in 1959 with SN K348746, but I can't find any other reference. The SN marked on this one is 22K9867.

Any and all help appreciated.

That’s a K-22 Masterpiece Magnum Rimfire made in the late 1970’s. If you look in the frame cut below the barrel with the cylinder open, you’ll see it’s marked 48-4. The ammo is more expensive than .22 LR cartridges, but the .22 Magnums are fun to shoot. They’re also a bit loud!

You inherited some nice stuff!

Thanks - See also threads on the registered magnum in the same collection. Just got the factory letter on that one.

I haven't technically inherited - helping my mom manage the remainder of a much larger collection she inherited in 1992.

Sounds like quite a collection. Make sure you wipe all the guns off with an oily rag. 30 years is a long time to sit…

Thanks - one thing I'm good about. I own some more modern guns that I also care for, but still do a couple of things the way my dad taught me.

I've been cleaning them and oiling regularly. Hoppe's #9 in barrel and cylinder bores then clean patches then oily patch. Oil the entire gun then wipe down with dry rag, the slightly oily one (all microfiber these days). Moved to ballistol a long time ago.
