Will a Model 28 barrel fit in a Model 28-2? Are they the same thread pattern and thread diameter?

Yes, all N frame barrels from about 1915 on will fit.

Hang around. Lots to learn here. I've been a member since 2003 or so and I still learn lots of info concerning S&Ws.

Welcome to the S&W Forums! Yes, all Model 28/Highway Patrolman barrels have the same barrel threads and the same external shape and barrel rib. The only real difference is the pin, which does not matter if the frame is non-pinned. If the frame is pinned, but the replacement barrel is not, a groove for the pin can be machined into the barrel shank.
