Default Treasury Marked Side Plate

I got this in a parts lot a while back. I collect State Trooper guns and this looked cool. Trying to figure out what model it came off of. The only marked Treasury guns I have seen were a commerative issue. Do you guys think it's from that. Would anyone consider this rare? It's cool to me. I never see Federal issued guns for sale.

Thanks

IRS don't need no revolvers. That's all I have to say.

I’d try to fit it to something, then tell the story.

The BATF was part of the Treasury.

I have no idea where it might have come from, but I agree. It is cool.

I did a little bit of Google and learned that the Treasury calls its Agents (IRS Agents) "Special Agents" and they are authorized to carry guns. So it is not impossible.

If it’s stainless I’m guessing a 60.

My guess is that it came off of a commemorative Model 19 from the 70s or 80s.

It's an IRS-CID side plate off Model 15 snub or a 3" Model 10. The guns had to be destroyed, bit there are a few left floating around.

Interesting! Are you with the agency? Would love to hear more.
