Cool Model 34

I am buying a model 34 that actually says "Mod 43" on the yoke.
It has the small round handle and wooden diamond grips.
It has ser. # 347XX and it's in NEW condition. Does anybody know when it was MFG.?
Thank You in advance, Jimi James.

If it is stamped Mod 43 then it should be an airweight kit gun.

It will have a 3.5" barrel where the Mod 34 either has a 2" or 4".

Someone will come along with a birth date shortly.

Enjoy it !!

The model 43 is routinely valued somewhat more than the Model 34. It is a fair bit more scarce.

We'd love to see pictures. Be aware the finish on the aluminum alloy parts doesn't stand up as well as blued steel and won't look great if it spends much time in a holster. Great little guns, enjoy.

Your mod 43 was probably shipped in the 3rd quarter of 1958!

WOW! The 3rd quarter of 1958! I was 7 years old! And it looks to be brand new!

Thank you very much! Jimi James

Welcome!

The model 34 is all steel, while the model 43 Airweight has an alloy cylinder and frame. Based on the photo this appears to be a model 43, because the cylinder and frame finish (anodized) match and the 3.5" steel barrel (blued) does not. If you were expecting a model 34 you'll be surprised how light this one is.

YES...It IS very light...But it packs quite a BANG for a little .22
I shot it 12 times and was fascinated at what a Punch it had.

Thank You for your Help!

Jimi if the gun pictured is the one you have, it is a square butt grip not a round butt as you initially described

I would cautiously only fire standard velocity rounds in your new 43

Why? I think all I fired in mine is high velocity. Is that stated in the original owners manual? I doubt it as they made them until the 1970s but I don’t know.

A 43 will fire all 22s, including the hyper velocity stuff. I’ve had them and the bulk of the ammo that went down the pipe was bulk HV and premium
LR HV.
