The paperwork says a model 29. Not 29-2, -3, etc. The screwdriver is knurled, not ribbed like mine. The box is black vinyl like they used to use. The gun looks almost unfired.
He's asking $3300. What's he selling?

Exactly what he says he is selling, a 4 screw Model 29 in the original Blue Leatherette case with the correct screwdriver/sight adjustment tool it non relieved Goncalo Alves Target stocks with a 6 1/2" barrel.
29 Marked 44 Mags are from 1957 to 1960 and with the non relieved grips I'd say earlier than later.
This one seems in very nice shape/condition though a bit higher priced than I want to spend but they aren't making any more of these and they aren't getting cheaper.
Somebody either died and the family is selling off or got old and is ready to sell his 1957 gun before he does die.
Right now the 44 Mags are showing up. 5 years ago it was the Reg Mags.

I question the originality of the non-relieved targets. I think they’re earlier than the gun and it should have cokes. Maybe one of the resident .44 Mag collectors will offer an opinion.

i think it should have cokes. those stocks don't look right. if it had cokes on it, i think the price isn't to bad. like my older friends tell me, there not making them any more...

The stocks are very nice and not often seen as most early stocks of this type are made of walnut and not Goncalo alves. However, we had a post a couple of weeks ago about a pair of non-relieved, checked stocks made of rosewood and they are rare also.
The 44 Magnum listed should have coke bottle stocks and not the ones that are currently on the revolver. It is priced at the upper end of what a mint 5-screw in the case might bring and a bit high for a 4-screw with incorrect (albeit very nice and somewhat rare) stocks. However, there seems to be a lot of collectors(?) recently who are willing to spend nearly any amount of money on nice, collectible S&Ws and accessories like stocks. Maybe money is being switched from the market to firearms collectibles?????
