Very nice. Hard to beat smooth stocks made of Goncalo alves.

I like the stocks Mike, but the colors on the hammers and triggers are some of the best I've seen on an HP

Mike,
Great looking stocks and they really dress up the 28's. By the way if you ever nick them up I know a guy who is pretty good at fixing them up.

The darker pair is not GA - they are early Rosewood. Here is a better picture for you. Besides the giveaway "pores", Rosewood has a unique smell to it. When prepping these for refinish, I used 600 sandpaper - the Rosewood aroma was present. I don't get to smell it often but when I do...........it's a dead giveaway. Ironically, rosewood sawdust is very dangerous if inhailed. Maybe this is Mother Nature's "Safety Net"

Curtis - this gun was made in the 70's while alot of Psychedelic experiences were going on
Makes sense, doesn't it?

Mike, nice picture of rosewood and the tell-tale pores.

Those smooth, presentation stocks are my favorites on a LNIB gun. Have you modified the figure of those grips any - or is that the factory shape?
By the way - nice set of 28's!

Both are original and factory shape Jerry - they have not been modified.
The early rosewood / black washer have similar profile to Cokes

My first magnum S&W was this 28-2, bought new in 1967. I've had these rosewood smooth "cokes" on it for a long, long, time. Nothing else seems to fit me better. No, I didn't modify the original cokes, that was done by the guy I bought them from at a gun show...shame, but they sure are comfortable.

Nice "candy" on those hammers & triggers Mike.
What you need is a real set of Cokes on one!
