I have a S&W Model 1955 in .45 ACP caliber. The half moon clips required to be used for the ammo. It is a target model with adjustable rear sight (both elevation and windage. The trigger and hammer are both extra wide. The action is the smoothest I have ever encountered in a revolver. Very crisp hammer release. This is a 4 screw model with a serial number of S1618XX. It has seen very little wear as 99% of the deep rich blue is present. I would like to know approximately when it was manufactured and it current value. Thanks.

I would guess 1956 or 57.

Value is largely dependent on condition and presence of accessories like the box and tools. For the gun alone I would make a ballpark guess of $600-$800 but all prices are up right now and I could be way off.

This would become the Model 25 when model numbers are assigned.

The later model 25's right now are in the 600-800 range. I would think a minty 4 screw 1955 would fetch about a G or a little more.
