Pictured below are the 1964, 1965, & 1966 S&W catalogs featuring the Model 57 .41 Magnum.
Note the aforementioned "identical" pictures used for the Model 29 & the Model 57! While no mention is made of the Model 57's presentation (velour lined) case, there is an additional charge of $10 for the "Mahogany presentation case" for the .44 Magnum!

70 cents for a "sight adj. screwdriver"!
Worth slighty more today.

I am a history/nostalgia freak.... I love those catalogs. Such pristine reminders of better days gone by.

Man look at those prices....I wish I could get some money from that era and go back in time and just buy them all up.

Those were the days. I have a Herter's catalog from the 60's. Amazing how prices have changed.

..prices may have changed but look at wages...not the minimum wage..but what people really get paid vs. what they were paid in 1964.
A police officer in Dallas, Texas where I once worked probably made $8K in 1964...today he makes $80K+... A toll taker on the Massachusetts Turnpike probably made $5k year...now they make $60K+. And how about auto workers...
As long as we demand more money...prices are going to go up...

Unless you're a farmer.....We were getting $4.25 a bushel for wheat in 1969 - they still are...
