Winchesterwife and I went to a small gun show today. Lots of AR mags and long guns, a bunch of overpriced (to me) Lugers and the other normal gun show stuff, but only 3 Smiths in the whole place. The first was a pre lock MIM 3" 624 at 495.00 which was nice, an old M&P with no finish at around 300.00 , and the subject of this post, a 14-2 with nice original Diamond Magnas that was a solid 95%+ with the box. The sticker said 395.00, but with no input from me, the guy offered it for 360.00 OTD. The wife happily gave her blessing and I thought about it the rest of the time we were there and decided to pass. I then thought about it the whole way home.
Did I screw up?????

I think I would have torn the pocket off my jeans getting my wallet out before some on-looker said-"I'll Take It!"

I suspect the 624 was at least $100 low. But you showed restraint in front of your wife, which could be worth a gold mine down the road.
On the other hand, you'll have to live down the humiliation around here first.

I'll be the optimist here. At the last show ,I passed on a very nice K-22 shooter for $325.
Every time I pass on a seemingly great deal ,,a better one comes along not soon after ,,and I would not have the money if I'd done the first deal.
Yes you were a bit of a knucklehead ,,but who knows?
I don't know. Do you Know? I have definitely gotten pickier as my collection has grown.
Take two aspirin ,,and it will be alright in the morning .
Regards ,,,Al

I passed on a 3" 625 Model of 1989 yesterday for $600. It was a good 95%. I didn't have the money in my pocket.

If you had the money...you goofed...unless you just really didn't want it and were looking for something else.

Wow, you guys are brutal ! Seriously, I regret not getting the 14 more than the 624. I'm not a big stainless fan and I really wanted a K38 to go with my K22, but as they say, "you snooze, you lose".
VM said it best - Knucklehead!!
