I have been looking at a Mod 60-4 .38spl in 3" for awhile, and it is still there. It is a consignment gun, and the owner was in the process of retiring and moving. I ask the shop owner what would be the least he would take. Well after a week of waiting for the origional owner to get settled in his new retirement diggs, he called to check in. He has other guns there also, so he called to update his new address, and when asked what he would take for the 60, he said 325.00 OTD. It was origionally priced at 399. I about fell out. That puts it around 301. before tax and call in. Well needless to say I will pick it up tommrow. The first thing will be to get rid of the rubber grips that came on it. Not sure what I will replace them with, any suggestions?

Cart - that's a great find at a fantastic price. You're going to have fun with that one. I think any wood you put on it will feel good. I like the finger grove grips on the J-frames. Enjoy! PEN

Good find & price! Don't sell the original rubber grips short, I put wood on mine for a while but ended up putting originals back on, perfect fit & feel for that 60-4.

Here's it's stablemate, 36-6. I agree they are the near perfect carry weight and balance and very accurate.

First off, Cartouche. Great little gun. You will love shooting it.
I am the proud owner of two of these.I have gone to pachmayr compac grips on both, as the original Uncle Mike ones, just didnt feel right in my hand.
I've posted about these guns in the past. Both of my guns have RR/WO sights on them. One I'm the original owner on one, so I know the sights werent changed. The other I cant be sure, but it doesnt appear as if they were changed. Every gun posted on the forum has had Black sights. Anyone else have RR/WO on their 60-4? Tom ===================

I am pretty excited, I had no idea the consigner would cut me such a great deal. I will proably keep the origional grips, but some finger groove woods would look pretty cool.
That is one sweet 36, ya got there Richard. The only 36 I have is a snub, in nickel. Shotguntom, the sights that are on there are black. Forgive my ignorance, what are RR/WO sights?

Mine has the RR/WO as well. Seems like most of them don't. By the way, Muley Gil, I was in your area a couple of weeks ago - beautiful country!

A number of years ago, an article in the Gun Digest discussed building a perfect trail gun. It left me with a great desire to own one. When the 60-4 was introduced, I jumped on it. I would have rather it had a 4" barrel but after I got it I realized what a shooting treasure it is.

I shoot mostly target wadcutters in mine and in spite of the short barrel I can shoot it quite well. It is as near perfect a trail gun as perfect can be. W/C/s work well with both cotton tail rabbits AND snowshoe rabbits - good "smack" and little meat damage. I tend to shoot rabbits "through the slats" and am good to 25 yards with that high percentage shot. Through the slats stops them quite well without meat damage (I and my family LIKES rabbit with out all of that nasty bird shot). For the record, I shoot rabbits sitting with a revolver...

I love these in 38 Special. What a great carry/trail piece.

$399 would have been a great price for me!
