Looking for your opinions on the fair value of a 1977-78 model 27-2 3.5" TH TT factory target stocks with no chips or cracks, some honest finish wear, original bluing approx. 85%, lock up is fine and very smooth trigger pull. No rust or non-factory modifications, screw heads appear unmolested. I know this model seems to be sought after in top end condition, but am looking for values for a shooter? Thanks for any and all comments.

I'll go, NIB w/pres case may be $800+, but a no-box shooter with three T's may be out there at $600 or so...anybody?

I picked up a shooter (85-90%) 27-2 3.5" about a year and a half ago from auction at $415. I don't think I'd want to spend over $550 today for the same piece. Heck, why not just get a beater 4" 28-2 for $350 or so?

i would not go much over 500 for a shooter since condition has a big impact on value. those "like new" in box guns are up around 1k or more.

I would not sell a shooter grade for anything less than $500. So, I would expect to pay up to $650 or so. These just point and shoot so well. The 3 T's are gravy!

Thanks for all the replies and info. I purchased the 27-2 for $400 which included a box of Golden Saber ammo and a nylon holster. The price is exactly what the owner asked. I was not up on any current pricing estimates for a shooter 27, and now think I got a fairly good deal. I have thought almost any pinned & recessed N frame in shooting order should be worth $300, but with the current economic trend, I wonder about shooting grades being affected. Thanks again for the replies!

I think you did very well. The ammo you put through it will cost way more than the gun!

When it comes to shooters I have plenty of them so I pay less and only buy bargains. You may get $500 or more from someone just looking for a shooter but usually unless they are a steal I think most of us that have a fair number of firearms will pass. IMHO At $400 I would say you did good.

I would have said more like $400+, but I seem to always pay top dollar.

I think you got a great buy.
If you ever get tired of it, put it in the Forum Classifieds for $450 shipped and watch it sell in two minutes flat.

I agree with JF on both accounts. More like 4 Franks and I ALWAYS PAY TO MUCH!
I've said before that the days of $300 blued Smiths and $400 stainless ones are about over.
