Meprolight does. They are the only ones I could find that did.

I just got some, but when I called the gunsmith to have him put them on he told me he only does the front. He said the rear night sights are much heavier than the factory blade and have a tendency to pop off. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this.

Thanks Dixiedawg119. I ordered a set online. I'm going to have the rear sights put on and see what happens in practice.

I have no idea what your gun wrench is talking about D/D? I personally have 3 sets lurking around the Sdog casa, two of the 3 are 10 years old, one is about 7 YOA. The only thing I did differently than factory instructed on the front Tritium insert, was to use Loctite bearing and sleeve retainer, rather than the factory suggested type of Loctite. Probably twice a year, I wick another small drop along the seam of the insert. Haven't lost one yet! As to the rears, I'm really confused? Have never had an issue of any kind there? But, they're getting a bit dimmer than when new, after 10+ years. So it's time to buy another few sets and slam them in.

Has anyone gone out at night and shot targets using night sights?..went through the police academy and had to shoot at night using service loads..after the first shot the flash blinded you and if you were lucky enough to get one round on the paper the rest were "law suits" as the missed shots were called back in the day..practice with what you got..enhancing sights will not suffice for practice in my book..I was the demonstration officer and I got 2 rounds on each of 2 targets but only 1 on the last one firing 357 mag..using a M65 4" barrel at about 25 yards..

5X,
I can see how with "service loads" (which I assume were 125 .357's?) the light show would have been dramatic! That's why I suggested the +P .38's for indoors. Your right, most folks other than as LEO's or military have never seen what flashes look like at night.

I've shot 9mm pistols in training and at USPSA matches in low light and almost no light both indoor and out. I was able see night sights much better and thus shoot more accurately. At very close ranges at full targets there wasn't much difference but at partial targets and greater distances the night sights were better for me. I've never had a revolver with night sights nor have I had to deal with the muzzle flash produced by some 357 ammo.

A good "revelation" has emerged for those unaware.

Make sure your pet "superload" is one that doesn't have a tremendous amount of blinding flash to it!

Your super-duper load, one that has a 2% more effective one-stop hit ratio, may be the wrong self defense load . . . when the light dims to night and the bad goblins come out to harrass and play!

Hmmmm . . . some folks might want to hit the woods or the range soon and test their loads by sending a few rounds safely downrange in total darkness one night.

I think I will too . . . it's been awhile.

T.

Next time you see him ask if the letter BS mean anything to him.

This is the 27th, 8 shot, 357 magnum production revolver. It has had these night sights on it since 3 days after leaving the factory in 1997. It gets shot on a fairly regular basis. Mostly with full power 357 Magnum ammunition.

I have night sights on several other S&Ws all with no negative results. Even the ones om my snub nosed 66 work fine.

Some 686s have an Intregal Ramp front sight. Others have a replaceable front like my CS-1/686 Has..
The Rear wouldn't be a problem IMO? Maybe I'm missing something Here??
That Pic that colt_saa shows is realy a neat looking setup for a revolver that's used for concealed carry & I'm sure gives a nice sight picture..
I realy love the undercut front sight my CS-1 has..

Hi, If you dont want to do it your self you can have your gun sent off to a company like:
http://www.tooltechgunsight.com/inde...ntact&Itemid=3
or if you want to go cheaper you can try this company:
http://www.nitesiters.com/

I have personally used both. I used the night sighters on my model 19-4. The only bad thing about the night sighters is that you need to charge the sights up by shining a bright flash light on them for a few minutes. Once charged they will stay charged for several hours.

I guess that means no one else has had that problem. Well, that's why I frequent this forum - learn something new all the time. I'm gonna try to put 'em on when I get free time around Christmas.

Does XS sights make a set up for the 686? I have a snub 21/2 that I would like to set up for quicker carry and shot placement. My holster is being shipped this week from Mika and I am training and won't get to see it for a few days.

I had the version that replaces the front Red Ramp Insert on my 610 till they winked out. No problem at all with the back sight, or the front either. Never heard of a problem with the back sight either.
