I just had to show it off, I once owned this gun in the 70's and traded it, now I got it back.

Very very nice. Model 58s are the muscle cars of the revolver world. I have a 57 that I've owned for 20 years but always wanted a 58. I'll never sell any of my .41 Mags.

Nice, Catdad.
I see I'm not the only one who has a Mod 58 with the target trigger and hammer:

Very nice. Perhaps one day I will have a 58. That will probably be the only 41 I ever own.

Lucky you! Nice gun, and I really like the Case Knife! Is the knife also from 73? It's got to be close!

Gunnut44, that Case is probably around the same age or older and sharp as a razor.
Thanks to the rest who posted pic's of their 58's, very nice indeed.

I bought my blue M-58 NIB at Wolfe's Sporting Goods in Salt Lake City on August 25, 1978, for the whopping retail price of $183.75, which included about a 6% sale tax. Still looks new as it hasn't seen much time in a holster, although I have shot it a bit.

Great guns. Nice photos, folks.

I was lucky to get mine in a mutually beneficial trade with a forum member. I don't know what I'll use it for, but I sure like having it around.

Nice guns guys!
catdad,
What a great deal to get your gun back!! Congratulations.

I have but one 58...weird story...
picked it up at a gun show a few years ago...it had normal muzzle wear and was Magna-Ported but over all was pretty nice...then a brand new barrel became available here on the Forums. I was able to work a great deal with the seller. Then when S&W offered to install it for $35.00...well heck fire! This gun is even nicer (and more stock) than when I bought it!
Here's the gun, with the new barrel installed, the old ported barrel and the parts S&W replaced when the gun went back for service.

After selling the ported barrel...I was out very little money!

It's a great shooter too.

Bob

VonFatMan,
Cool story, I know you're happy with it being back to original.
I originally bought mine from my Father in Law when he was a gun dealer and traded it back to him because my department would not let me carry it for duty.
When he passed I got it back, it's staying with me now and my son will inherit it.
