I posted this in the Gunsmithing part of the Forum as well. Has anyone installed a lanyard ring in the butt of their Model 22-4? I'm thinking of doing this, and would like to see the results of doing it.

Thanks!
Ron

Here's a pic. Not my gun or pic. Hamilton Bowen is big on lanyard rings also. Might want to check out his website.

Everything depends on the serial number at the bottom of the grip frame. There needs to be enough space to allow for the stud without ruining the number. The factory installed rings have the numbers spaced out on either side of the stud.

The Hogue Monogrip has a lanyard ring that can be substituted for the original screw, I have heard.

Agree about the serial number issue. Even with the centrally-spaced number, there is sufficient room to place the lanyard ring directly aft of it. It will be slightly offset to the rear, but S&W has done that themselves on some Model 10s and the rare ".45 Kit Gun" (Model 25 with tapered 5" barrel and lanyard ring). Just wanted to see if anyone else had already tried this.

Just rec'd an e-mail back from SW re installing a lanyard ring in the center of the grip on my 22-4 (and, therefore, having to restamp the serial number).

In a word - no, they won't do it Too bad - I was hoping to have one installed. Don't really care for the looks of the ring to the rear, so looks like I'm SOL.

And they wonder why some of us are going back to buying Rugers At least there - you know up from they're SOBs

Why don't you just use the Hogue replacement part so it does not affect your frame or serial number?
