I recently acquired a 99+% 686 National Match, 1 of 500, and cannot find a value for it. Does anyone know its value or should I just use it as a shooter? Don't need to shoot it, have other shooters. Thanks, Frank

The 686 NM has a non fluted cylinder, 6 inch barrel, and laser engraved target on side plate. The grips re also special but I forget the maker.

And thier may be more to it that eludes me.

Sure wish I hade one.

Shoot it and take care of it. The Value certainly won't go down if you take proper care of the gun. But, because it has been shot it is only worth about whatever a standard Model 686 "Shooter Grade" gun would be. You might find somebody out there who "Just can live without it!!!" and they might be willing to give you a Premium over the "Shooter Grade" but it may take some looking.

It may be one of the ones Bill Davis had made up several years ago

It's the Bill Davis gun. They're great shooters, great looking, and certainly worth more than the standard 686. Shoot it all you want - it can only appreciate in value.

Hi, Does this 686 have a 5'' barrel, non fluted cylinder,National Match on the barrel and a black silhouette on the sideplate? If so,it's listed in the 3rd edition of SCSW on page 270.If this is the gun you are talking about I have seen 2 listed here before between $700 and $800,

Ken

pics cant be attached, you need to have them hosted someplace, like Photobucket or Picturetrail or similar, then you can insert them here.

Yes there are some people that just love guns that are different then the norm. I am one of those people. I have some very nice 686s that are different and a 646 as well.
