Found a nice N frame today at our local gunshow. Model 28-2 Early 1980 serial #.The bore is mint and the metal nearly flawless. Looks to be in almost unused condition. Seller said it was from an estate he was helping to liquidate. (he had several nice Smiths for sale).

I like the 4" 28s and yours is nice. The price was excellent and you have nice wood. You had a good day at the show, don't get no better then that. Larry

Thanks Larry, I had a hard time making up my mind between this one and a mint model 10 with 2" barrel.Hopefully he will still have the ten next month.Heading for the range in a couple hours to punch some paper with it! Tim

Nice 28! I love going to gun shows, never know what you'll come across...one of my saddest moments came at a gun show several years ago when a fellow was carrying around an apparent NIB model 58 that he wanted 300.00 for...all I had was 286.00 and a Glock 22 with me and he did not want to trade! Now I always have at least 300.00 on me when I go to shows! Being partial to 4in. N frames, I find that model 28 most attractive tinbender.

I was at the gun show in York PA on Sat. now I know what a sardine feels like. I saw 2 model 28's both in the $450 range. I didn't handle either one so I don't know if they were as nice as yours.

Good looking Highway Patrolman! I've seen quite a variation in Model 28 finishes - some quite dull or matte, others with more polish. Yours is the latter. Very nice price, too.
Regards,
Jerry

Tinbender,
Congratulations on a great buy. I wrote about your pistol's ugly step sister - Model 28-2 with finish issues (grips as well as several spots that were worn down to the bare metal). The seller wanted a firm $350.00 for his. Fortunately, I got hooked into another deal that took me into the remainder of the gunshow, so I didn't get a chance to go back and haggle. Other forum members have advised me to shop at the $400 - $550 price range and now I can see what they mean.
Regards,
Dave
