a Model 66 barrel to replace it?

Pinned barrel for the Model 66 also.

Yes, the gun will be tu-tone. I had actually considered having it electroless nickel plated, if it is possible to do it over stainless and get a uniform gun.

I can wait for a regular 19 barrel, but wanted to explore my options.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

A stainless M66 barrel will fit up just fine, assuming correct indexing and B-C gap. I've done it both ways: carbon steel gun and SS barrel, and SS gun and carbon steel barrel with no issues.

Asfor puttingn electroless nickel finish on SS, I dunno. Ask the plating specialist, or do it before installing the barrel. An EN finish would be an almost perfect match with the SS barrel.

John,

Would you have any pics of a Tu-Tone? I wouldn't mind leaving it if it looks good together....just wasn't sure how to do it.

Thanks,

Years ago, before the L-frames, there was the "Smolt," a Colt Python barrel fitted to a Model 19. I don't know if anyone is still able to make this conversion, and with the prices of Pythons thru the roof, getting a hold of a Python barrel might be as much of a challenge as getting one for a 19. Have you also checked with Cylinder & Slide?

You can nickle stainless, but I would have it hard chrome instead. Better finish and will last longer. By the way - I do have a 66 barrel for sale in the add's.

You know, it probably would look pretty good with a SS barrel and cylinder....but Cylinders look to be about $100, so that puts it in the same price range as a refinish job.

Bullseye, I'll E-mail or IM you.
