Ahrends 'Retro Targets' on '08 vintage revolvers:



Some S&Ws, like this '04 'Stocking Dealer Exclusive', a 5" h-l 686+, came equipped nicely - with square conversion & fg cocobolo Ahrends grips, as well as a HiViz and V-notch sight:



The square conversion non-fg cocobolo Ahrends on the 696 feel totally different from the Retro Targets.

These grips are made from a tree that only grows on some tiny island, I can't remember where, and are valued at around $1000. But then again I guess a gun that had a production run of only 10 and a selling price of $10,000 should have $1000 grips.

I just wanted to tell you this six shooter is really cool.I can picture it in a nice floral carved western rig by El Paso saddlery at a BBQ right now.

I've committed sacrilege. In the very second post of this thread I stated "shoot them the way God intended" referring to the use of factory stocks.

In a moment of curiousity, I put the Uncle Mike's rubber panels that came on my 65-2 from CDNN back on. I couldn't believe how well the revolver pointed and felt in my hand. I then received my replacement duty-holster, the original returned for the lining coming away from the holster-body within two months of light use. Upon practicing with it I was amazed how much easier the gun came out (although I really think my original holster was molded wrong as the difference is night and day.)

So, I guess I'm a hypocrite although I still PREFER the originals in the looks department.

My S&Ws mostly wear factory grips, but some others in my accumulation are properly dressed. My poor phography does no justice to these, particularly to Cary's fine grips on the Rugers.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with rubber grips if they fit your hand better. I have bought many sets of grips trying to find a pair that fit just right. You find a pair that you think you will like until you shoot the gun. I finally settled on Ahrends square butt smooth and love them.

I've got some Ahrends grips on order but they are not here yet Some good looking factory wood though on a few of my aquistions.

WOW! You guys just keep showing some great stocks. I would really like too get some Herrets for my model 10. I just don't know which one to get. I have Ahrends square butt smooth on it right now, but they are just a little too narrow. I have had target stocks on the gun, but there too wide.any advice from the experts here would be great.
