SN: N7***. Figuring early 70s production. Heck of a shooter, and believe it's had an action job.

My 3 28-2's. Top is standard 6 shot, middle is a 7 shot conversion. Bottom is matte nickel. Someone worked the action over very nicely, not enough "o's" to spell out how smoooooth it is

I've bought three different sets of these off of Ebay and they are all perfectly book marked and fit like a glove. The wood on this set is cocobola and they have a lot of orange and black in them. The guy sells them for $59 each and some sets are much nicer then others.
This is the guy I got them from and you can view his items to see what he has.

Heres another set I got from him on my 27-2 in 6 inch barrel

The last "good deals" to be found in N frame S&W's are Mod 28-2's.

fiymo,
I too have bought several sets of those same grips from the same person on ebay. They are shaped like "cokes" and are great. The wood colors and patterns are beautiful.

Bought this one about 8 months ago for $225. had an old worn out Pachmayer Gripper on it. Put on the Hogue, and fell in love. She's old & looking used, but tight and accurate. Biggest problem is, I'm now hooked on big old Smiths.
Is there a cure for that? (And would I actually want it?)

Here are my two - the NYSP 28-2 I just picked up and my 28 no dash birthday gun which shipped in 1959.
I think I need to take some new pictures soon. But I have to build one of the light boxes first.
