Do the model 67 with the stainless rear sight have more value to them then the ones that don't? and if so is it the sight its self or the the whole gun. I just picked up one in like new condition.

I see them bringing about the same prices on the auction sites, so I would have to think not. However, given the choice, I would prefer the more rarer 67 no dash with the stainless rear site, over the 67-1 and up with the black rear site.

66's and 67's used SS rear sights in first batches made of the 66 & 67 no dashes. IMO, it just dates the guns as early models. There may be a slight premium but not much.
SS rear sight are hard to find when your looking for a replacement.
People will jack the price up if they have one
{ask me how I know }

In my infinate illness I own three 67-0 revolvers, two in fine shape, one with police stampings. One has the stainless rear sight, the other two have black rear sights. I paid $300 for each of them. I don't know if anyone has identified a specific value to the various reditions of this great little revolver.

I have to admit I paid a bit more then $300.00 for mine. But as I have said before value is in the eye of the beholder. I thought it was a good deal. So I bought it.

Since any gun I own is for serious use, I prefer the newer ones with the black rear sight, but for collector purposes, it seems that the first ones with the silver finished stainless sights might be a little more valuable.

Darken it with a candle or lighter when you shoot it. It'll come of easily when cleaned.
Ooops?
I forgot?
Are you allowed to shoot sweet rocking .38 K frames, when your collecting them?
(Couldn't resist!)

Actually I have 3 or 4 extra rear sights that I could put on it and just save the stainless one.

I won't fuss with what you paid for the 67. They are good shooting long lasting six shooters and they don't make yours any more. A comment one one of the three I have, sure each cost $300 but one I needed to send to S & W for service and that cost me another $85.00, oh, and then I replaced grips on another and that was another $42.00.
Your going to enjoy shooting it.

The plus side...made within the first few years of the model introduction; the minus- go shooting on a bright sun-shiny day. I have one, I think they look better, I might pay another $25 for the earlier one.
