I have an original black Tyler T-Grip and a new silver one for my 37-2, and I'm having a hard time deciding which one to leave on. How about you guys - do you prefer one over the other with blued guns?

Black for blue, silver for nickel or stainless, gold for pimp special with gold-plated trigger, hammer and sideplate screws.

Model520 has the general convention, but I've seen some pictures on this forum where they've been mixed and look pretty darned good. Buy one of each (Gold is your call!)and experiment. In any case, send pictures!

Hi,

I initially bought a silver one for my blued Model 25-2 "snubbie" with Executioner stags.

I didn't like the look so I bought a black one for it and it looks GREAT!

I concur with what Model520Fan said. Also . . . for the frosted stainless finishes, the brushed aluminum ones look best!

Tom

OOPS . . . a thread is no good without PICTURES! . . . two blued with black ones, and a nickle-plated J-frame with the polished aluminum ("silver") ones:

I've got a shiny aluminum one on my blued M&P. Looks good.

Silver is what I had so it's what I used. I like it fine but the black looks a little better with blue, I guess.

You see what I was saying, Doublesharp's piece looks hot! It's kind of like having a blonde in a black bikini at the beach!

I kind of like the contrast myself. But it really is a individual gun, eye of the beholder thing.

I'll go along with the conventional thinking. But if I have a blue gun and only a silver T-grip handy the combo doesn't bother me a bit.

Sometimes I like the blonde in the black bikini, sometimes I like the blonde in the yellow bikini. Sometimes I like the brunette...oh geez, this could go on forever!

I like 'em all, no matter if they're blue or nickel or stainless!

Here's a blued Model 1905 with a silver Tyler and modern stocks. I keep it as a "fast grab" house gun. I put the Tyler Tee on simply to improve the feel of the grip. I intend to take the wife shooting next weekend, I think I might just take this old gal along!

I think a black T-grip on a stainless gun would look better than vice-versa.

As others have stated, I would use what I had without too much ado over looks.

I prefer the silver T-Grips because the black wears off eventually.

I know this is an old forum, but I just signed up a year ago and I wasn't around for some of these great threads. I think I'm the only person I know who really really likes the idea of a shiny, polished brass T grip on a blued gun. I am waiting for mine currently. It will be a blued, snub Smith & Wesson Model 36 no dash with a squared butt and a polished brass T grip to go with my diamond magna grips I just got. I like it because it accents the brass casings in the cylinder that I carry and the brass screw hole and the brass colored medallion. I have only seen one picture online of a blued Model 19 snub with the shiny brass T grip and it looks sooooo beautiful!! I'll post pictures here once I get mine. If not brass, then shiny black is what I'd most likely do.

I like the older gold T-grip as they seem stronger than the others and matches the gold medallions on grips.

I think they should not stand out and should just look like part of the gun. But I, too have seen blue worn guns on this forum with gold T grips that look great. Silver ones, too.

I have some black T-grips, but prefer black BK Grips.

I started my 686 with a T-grip, but the gun is too awkwardly weighted so I moved to a Pachmayr Compac Pro, which I actually love. I really wish someone made a wood grip with that exact profile.

You do what makes you happy...

That being said.... I always thought the bright polished aluminum grips looked a lot better than the black plastic ones , regardless of the color of the gun. But that's just me.

I wonder if Tyler ever made in black ones for the newer D frame Colts? I've got silver and gold but have never seen a black one.

They still do according to their site. But I heard horror stories about ordering from them so I found one on ebay

Either black or brass for a blued gun. If the gun is stainless or nickel I just get a set of Culina's so I do not need a T grip.
