I am looking for advice on what would be the smallest stocks for a round butt N frame.

I just got a 629-4 Mountain Gun. I put some Craig Spegel stocks on it and they are just a little bit big for my hands. (The Hogues that came with the gun just don't fit me.) I know that I could order some smaller stocks from Herrett's or Ted at Blu-Magnum but that would take take six months so to receive them. Has any other small handed person compared the Jerry Miculek stocks with the Craig Spegel stocks to see which are smaller? Or do any of the other stock makers make N frame stocks for those of us who have trouble reaching the trigger on on N frame?

Hands vary in size and in shape. Just describing them as small probably won't serve your purposes. If you're not a wood worker, or don't know one, you're at the mercy of the companies that serve the industry. You probably should find a well supplied gunshop and pay them a visit. Pachmeyer rubber grips seem to work fairly well for some shoters.

If it were me, I'd seek out a really rough set of wood N's, square is OK. Then put them on the gun and with a pencil, scribe the area that needs to be removed. Files and sandpaper become your friend. The "Magna" style grips can be worked to shape very easily. Then the checkering can be sanded off to make them both thinner and better looking.

That's how I'd approach the problem initially.

I took a pair of round-butt stocks that were given to me and removed the finger grooves, thinned them down a bit, and just generally made them fit my stubby fingers. Wasn't too hard and at least they fit me now.

I believe these are Eagle and are the smallest over size grips that I have seen.

These grips were made for me from a pair of wore out targets by forum member VM.
They are the most comfortable, controllable stocks I have for any N frame.

And I own a few N frames.

He does top notch work at reasonable prices.

shown with a standard set of targets.

Nope. Little show in my hometown.

We'll pillage the locals & leave no S&W unturned.

These S&W Combat grips are great for small hands.

Just for shooting fun(not looks) I have never found anything better than pachmayr compacts. I usually don't care about looks and shoot my model 21-4 in 44 spcl. with the pacs.

I to believe the Eagle secret service is the smallest you will find, without doing something custom or modifying a set of magnas.

Some might think this looks dumb but I really like the feel and looks of the Hogue Bantam grips. Only problem is that they don't make it in a N frame size. But, the K/L size fits close enough. Here is my 629 amd 686+ wearing Bantams

When I had a 625 1989 with 3" brl I installed a set of the Eagle Secret Agent grips. I had to do some fitting but they sure did fit well. Oh how I wish I still had that revolver.

Sir, Ajax magnas are good for those of us "blessed" with short fingers. Those pictured here are for a square-butt grip frame, but they're made for round-butt guns as well.

Ajax N-frame magnas on the left, factory N-frame magnas on the right

Ajax magnas, side view

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Sir, those are very interesting. I may have to drop Mr. VM a line.

Thanks, and Semper Fi.

Thanks alot guys! I really appreciate all of the information. Right now, I am thinking that Ron H's advice on the Ajax stocks (maybe with a Tyler T Grip adapter) might be the way to go. Or maybe I should get in touch with Mr. VM. Thanks again to everyone!
