I had my eye on a revolver since I am starting out.

A couple of models I was looking at would be the 60 model and possibly the 686 model..

I was told the revolver won't jam on you and you can stop and shoot with out failure.

While the pistol should you get a limp wrist it may jam on you. Or if you didn't go full tilt of rapid fire it can jam on you also.

Any input on this theory or legitimatcy of it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm glad you asked!

From reading your other post, you are doing the right thing. Taking that NRA class will help you decide what you need for protection.

A cared-for revolver will very rarely malfunction. It is possible, but not likely.

Limp-wristing can cause a semi-auto to malfunction. I do not understand the "full tilt of rapid fire" statement. You do not have to shoot rapid fire to use a semi-auto. In fact, most people can't shoot fast and accurately (at the same time).

Welcome!

Level One, I would find a gun range near you that rent guns and I would rent a few and try several revolvers and semiautos out.See which caliber and frame size you feel comfortable shooting.

I strongly suggest attending some defensive handgun training. Let us know where you are and recommendations could be made.

Yes that is what I will be doing when I take the 3 hour NRA course. The instructor will be bringing many different handguns and calibers.

So I will get a chance to shoot different brands both in revolver and semiautos.

I am excited to see which one is going to work best for me...

When I started shooting at a young age I started out with a .22 long rifle, revolver and my first gun bought for me was a S&W model 19 .357... I grew up on revolvers and I love them because They do not jam and rarely fail. So my carry preference for power and comfort with carry and shooting is a revolver. Now on the other side I have been in the military and I am a cop. I have carried all kinds of semi-autos and I can tell you the 2 best guns that fit my hands with their ergonomics and for hand placement for comfort are Glock and Sig-sauer. all others just do not feel right in my hands.Again, be open minded and try everything ..My Agency carries Glocks so I am lucky I have one that feels good. I do not know what I would do if we went to the H&K..because I can not stand the way it feels in my hands...FIND WHAT IS MOST COMFORTABLE TO HOLD AND WHAT RECOIL YOU CAN HANDLE COMFORTABLY...
