At the gun show, I came across this minty factory nickled model 36. SN J3022XX. D.O.B.???
Barrel is pinned and has a square butt. The "N" is on the cylinder, and grip frame.Grips match also. Why did I need to rescue it???

Look closly, and you will see that some dummy scratched a serial number of some sort on the frame below the cylinder. He also scratched
it on the right side of the barrel. Other than that, it is an awesome revolver. It sure looked lonely sitting there all alone.

I figured it would make a great carry gun so I bought it for $275 OTD.

One of our local PD's used to engrave the case number on guns taken as evidence that they weren't planning to return to the owners, e.g. homicides etc. Might have an interesting past!

1976. I have your gun's slightly younger brother, J318xxx, which I purchased new in 1976. SCSW3 indicates the same.

Special place in Hell for a man who would do that.
