Does anyone know for sure who makes the S&W wood revolver presentation grips they sell on their web site? I have a couple of the N frame ones I ordered and they fit wonderful. They are a bit longer than the Eagle Heritage for my big mitt. Thought of trying the L frame ones.

It is my understanding that Altamont makes the production grips. It is my opinion that Kim Ahrends makes grips that are much more comfortable for shooting, and, in fact, if you request "eye candy", they will be much more beautiful....
he did these for me....

Thanks for the reply. That is some really gorgeous wood!. The problem I have with finger grooves is that with my big hands the grooves don't go where the fingers are. The pointy part between grooves ends up in the middle of a finger. The new long N frame grips S&W has are the first since my 1981 custom Jordan Troopers that I can get my whole hand around.

In fact, Kim makes grips without finger grooves, but they don't fit my hand as well (very small hands). I sound like an advertisement for Ahrends, but I just love his work....in fact, I ordered 4 more grips yesterday.....

Man grips are so personal....The Ahrends I have tried never fit my hands and the square edges hurt when I fire my large caliber guns. I really like the Hogue custom wood grips, they all seem to fit me well. I also really like the older S&W finger grooved combat grips.
The newer grips first mentioned in this post also seem to fit me pretty well, they are a little on the heavy side.I think that comes from the stabilized material they are using and the actual size of some of the grips made. My main probem with them is they look so machine made and almost like plastic that they just dont give me the eye appeal some of my other grips do. They sure do fit well and are very solid on the gun.
If you want more of these I see them sell on ebay for less than the S&W sight sometimes.
