Saturday i bought this 4" round butt 66-4 (ser. CBL 7XXX) for a surprisingly low price ten minutes into the show. Can't believe that another dealer didn't snatch it up before the doors opened.
I finally got it home after that silly 3 day waiting period. A quick cleaning reveals it to be in better shape than it first appeared. It has minimal flame cutting and everything is tight.
The Uncle Mike's grips may soon be replaced with woods.
I'm so happy that my luck was that good for one day.
much thanks goes to panamajack310 for providing good info and a DOB in another thread.

That doesn't look like flame cutting to me, just staining. Try using a little solvent plus rubbing the area vigorously with bronze wool. I'm betting that there's a good possibility it will come out entirely.

jug hang onto those rubber Uncle Mikes grips, I think you will find they were factory original with the gun.

thanks for the tip stevieboy... i'll clean it as you suggested.
thanks diamondback. the dried out grease on the grips and the frame made it appear that they were on there for a long time.

Nice catch, Jug! That gun looks like it's barely been fired. Let us know it shoots.

Very nice. The only thing I would do is get a set of square butt conversion grips.

thanks everyone!!
it'll be going with on the next visit to the range.
i'll keep the grips as diamonback has suggested. they are a good fit for my med. sized hand. although i do personally like the look and feel of wood and will be looking for a nice set.
