Hi to all. As i told you a view days before, the gunlaws in Switzerland are sharper now, because of the Shengen-contract with EUROPE.
We can still buy guns, but with this down-sides:
1. More expensive, because with one permit you can buy only one gun. (Three with the old law)
2. The costs of the permission is about US$60.-- (60 : 3 = 20.-- with the old law)
I am looking a long time for a nice 10-4 but they are not on the market. And now i stumbeld over this Model 10-7 3 incher.
I am not sure if the 3 incher was standard or special order. The serial-# is 5DXXXXX.
It comes with the original box and wax-paper. No cleaning rod or manual. The seller wants US$ 450.-- without permission-costs.
So what is your verdict??
Maybe I can talk with the police-officer to put another gun on the permission. If YES how is the price for this 15-4? US$ 530.-- without permission-costs.
It comes with the original box and wax-paper. No cleaning rod or manual.
Thanks for your answers and opinons.

Since neither has a manual or tools, I think they're about $25-$50 high. That may be a good price in your area.
The 10-7 3" may have been a special order when it was built, but I believe later became a catalog choice. I know that makes a difference to a collector, but if it'll be a shooter...
If you can buy both with the same permit, that would help. Bottom line, if I had enough desire for either or both guns I'd buy them, they will catch up to the price.

Depends on what you want to use it for. A 2" handgun IMHO is a belly gun and doesn't need adjustable sights, the 3" model 10 fixed sights is a nice carry gun.. I enjoy shooting my model 13 4" barrel with standard or reduced 38spl loads. Richard

The 3" barrel on the 10-7 brings a higher price. Since prices are inflated a bit right now, I would buy the 3" 10-7. This is assuming it is still in good condition.
That's my opinion. How much do you want it?

Around these parts (Central Texas) the 2" M15 carries a higher premium. They routinely sell for $500 in excellent condition. They also make excellent shooters, surprising for such a short barrel. I used to carry one years ago as USAF aircrew. Funny thing--we would qualify with a 4" M15 but carry the 2". You won't go wrong with either piece, IMHO

I'd get that Model 10 right now. In that condition, $400 is about right. Considering that they aren't exactly easy to find in CH, I'd pay the $450 plus whatever your purchase permit cost is.
The 3" fixed sight K frames are eminently practical, shootable, and have a beauty all of their own.

More or less, MHO. I have never understood 2" Model 15s.
As to the 3-inch M10, a more sensible gun, to be sure, but you already have that nice 3-inch Model 19.
I guess you could justify buying the Model 10 so that you could shoot it and spare the Model 19 the wear and tear.

The condition of the guns is good and the prices sound pretty good as well, Especially for Europe. To put things in perspective, if I found such examples here in California, they would cost me at least as much as the price you have found them for, our registration fee is only $25 though.
Good luck what ever you do and we are all looking forward to more pictures and a range report for when you take it home

Its drop dead gorgeous!
I'd go for it at that price.

Sounds a bit high for this area, and you seem to be able to find great deals - you might want to look around. They are the most common revolver in the world.

A 3 inch round butt is easier to find than the square, I would go with it in a heart beat my man. It is a deal, I would get it.

I would buy the Model 10. The one in the picture looks like one of those 3" medium barrel French guns. A pretty cool gun.

They're great for amusing your friends by hitting milk jugs full of water at 100 yards. Other than that, they're completely useless, much like 2 1/2" M-19's.

I'm in California. I'd be more than happy to pay those amounts. Just returned from a gun store that wants $600.00 for a 4" heavey barreled Model 10. I'd say he's dreaming, but in 2 years that's probably what one will cost here.

That 3" Square Butt K frame is PuRdY!! I'd jump on it at that price if that's what your after!! 3" seems to be harder to find, and come with a slight premium as well.. Nice guns!!

It looks like the prices on US made revolvers in Switzerland are as outrageous as the prices of Swiss made watches are in the US.
Both revolvers pictured are excellent although the model 10 is a bit more practical.

I certainly would get them too. Even if they are $25 to $50 higher than I think they should be. I usually don't let that stop me.

You cannot compare prices where you are, original poster, to some of the domestic US prices listed. I live in California, which has ridiculous rules that make virtually any pre-lock Smith a bonafide collectible. I have paid prices for guns in this state that would make people in this forum vomit because I paid so much. Why did I pay? Because I knew that if I passed up the gun, it might be months - or in some cases years - before I saw another one. Too often people forget the supply-side of supply/demand. My guess is that in Switzerland, minty-looking vintage blued Smiths are considerably more rare than in some US states, where there might be almost as many Model 10s as citizens.
Let's say you pay $200 more for a gun that you really want and will really use. Do you think that one or two years from now you will still be thinking about that $200? Hell no. But I tell you, there are some guns that I've let get away because I thought they were just a bit too pricey, that in hindsight I am kicking myself over. Those you never forget, especially if they are rare to your geographic area.

As pointed out you have to take the locale of the OP when considering price. If I had to guess those are pretty good prices for Switzerland....That 3"Kframe looks like a winner. The other seems a little high, even considering. But supply and demand rules all.

The 3" Model 10. The barrel length is somewhat unusual, and so that ads value, to say nothing of being able to hit the target at a longer distance than with the usual snubby barrel length of 1 7/8" or 2". Plus the square butt is not so common, but I could easily be wrong, as most Model 10's were square butt 4" or 6" revolvers.
If I could find a 3" Model 10 I'd buy it in a heart beat. And especially at that price.

Thanks for all this contributions. I think I'll try to got for the 3" Model 10. To get the permission I must go with the new rules. Like always when something change, much of rumors starts to grow about what is wrong and what is right, what is possible after the 12th of December 08 and what is gone forever.
I guess, I'll make a report how the police and the gov. will act with me as a gun-buyer with a look back. I can compare the past and the present very good. I hope this will stay a report "How do I buy a gun legally in Switzerland" and not change to a story like "You want another gun in Switzerland? Go to the army or became a criminial"
