The model 25-5 has easily become my favorite shooter. I recently got a great deal on some 45 Colt 250gr.semi wadcutters that shoot in the N frame like 38 s.w.c.s in a K-38.
Can't exactly explain why one particular revolver is easier to shoot for me than any other.
It may have something to do with the mystique of the 45 Colt cartridge.
I have a few 44 magnum revolvers and even loaded with 44 specials I didn't shoot them as well.
25 yards , rested
18 rounds at 15 yards, standing,
Does your favorite shooter change from time to time?
What is your current favorite shooter?
Do you have a 45 Colt revolver that you LOVE to shoot??
Show me yours ,please.

laa 3 are very very accurate and very sweet to shoot...I also carry my back up gun a 642 in the pocket or in an ankle holster.

Al, One of my favorite shooters too! 25-5.
Nice stags BTW!
And since you wanted to see favorite "COLT" .45 shooters, I'll add these.

I shoot my 25-5 the most. Here it is (in the white), but I prefer it with factory magna's for shooting.

Of all my handguns, this 65-8 is by far my favorite shooter. The combination of frame size, round butt, 4 inch heavy barrel, fixed sights, and an excellent action tune have made it so.
It is also my most mechanically accurate handgun. Don't know why, but this particular revolver is laser-like.
It is my favorite defensive handgun and my favorite IDPA handgun. It amazes me how a 109 year old design is so ergonomically correct and still the standard by which all others are judged

I have a 32 that I put together to shoot Bullseye with that I enjoy very much. It is way better than I am. Here is a PIC of it and the first target that it shot at 25 yards With one hand ( the Bullseye way).

The shooter that makes me look darn good is an old 25-2 that has a slight bulge in the barrel, So slight it can barely be seen, But I can do 1" groups at 50' most of the time from a standing position, just love this gun!

Sir, here ya go. I bought this 25-9 new in 1990. For a long time, it was my only handgun.
Oh, and here's a shot of my "other Colt .45." Bought this one new in '92.
Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

My 4" 25-5, unfortunately, is not one of my favorite 45 Colt shooters due to big cylinder throats (.456") It works OK using the .455" Rem 250gr LRN swaged bullets, but accuracy is not like you're getting, on a very good day. The more recent 4" 25-13 in 45 Colt is a much better shooter due to proper throat sizes, even though it has the lock.
This 625-6 45 Colt, however, is a great shooter. It will put the RCBS 45-270 SAA bullets driven around 980fps into 2" or better groups at 50 yards all day from a rest. Jacketed bullets generally shoot even better. But it was designed by the PC to do that.

I was looking for and wanting a model 25. I ran across and settled for this old pre 26, which has become my favorite "shooter."
Before the 26, my favorite was my 27-2.

Favorite shooter would be this old gun, nothing special, I practically stole it, but it is a great shooter and it gets shot!

For punching holes in targets, my favorite of my dozen revolvers is this old S&W model 27, which I bought used in 1968. It has the 8-3/8 inch barrel, and is almost like shooting a rifle.
