Hey, unfortunately you will begin reading the thing and start to try to figuere out how many trips a week you can take to donate blood to be able to buy your next gun...Or E-bay will be on fire trying to sell off all the **** you own to get your next gun...If you are married you will need to figure out the wife's schedule and weak points in her home defense radar against you so you can smuggle your new guns into the safe with out her knowing....If all else fails Beg for forgiveness just never ask for permission.

You will enjoy the reading! That book will load you up with more information than you can hold. The serialization section is a great tool for shopping.
Have fun and enjoy!

Fortunately I got rid of the wife before I started this But I got my kids and the house so I have a place to put them and someone to share the fondness with. My oldest has grown up with semi auto's in the house and just thinks the wheelies are the coolest thing since sliced bread.

It's a must have reference book and the best available, but there are some mistakes and typos. Take the information with a grain of salt, especially if you find an ANIB Model 18!

I picked up my copy a little over a year ago. I think you'll find that it tends to make your collection of S&W's expand!

Fresh pot of coffee,
The SCS&W,
in the "throne room" (AKA: library)
Read till your legs go numb. Stand up, shake it off, make more coffee, sit back down.

Nothing more true was ever uttered. I started out with one S&W revolver (a Model 620) in August of 2007. In January of 2008 I bought the SCSW, and have since added three more S&W revolvers to my small collection. Lack of available funds is the only thing preventing me from buying more right now.

Really a must have book. I got mine about six months ago, still haven't put it down, still learning from it. Only disappointing thing about the book is to see what certain guns are "worth", then you start looking for them and see how much they have gone up in such a short time. Great example is the 696. Of course, I guess it works both ways, good news if you already own the gun!

Which edition. I personally like the new 4th one better. Its got even more color photos than the 3rd that most people are raving about. And I still have and use my first ed. and 2nd.

Shucks. Didn't know about the 4th ed. Just ordered the 3rd ed before I read this. But hey, it'll be a good read and it was only $26 with free shipping.

There is no 4th Edition. The 3nd Edition is the latest....and an excellent book.

Spoilsport! The more calls to Supica, the better the chances are that we'll get a 4th. There are times when I feel I'm a lone crusader, out fighting for the 4th. As I was on the 2nd and 3rd. Come on people, just because Supica is switching jobs is no reason for him to lie down on the more important one!

I just picked up a "used" copy that looks like it was never opened. You realize how little you actually know. Congrats on your purchase, happy reading. Joe

The other side of this coin is that if you've got the opportunity to buy one of a couple of used copies, buy the one with handwritten notes in all the margins!!

Or you could luck out and get one signed by Jim.

I wonder if now, he'd be more available to sign my first and second editions?

I tried looking for a second, first edition- they are impossible to find!

I found a 1st edition at a Memphis gunshow (of all places) for only $5. I bought it quick-like-a-bunny. I now have the full set on my bookshelf . I like seeing the names of people I know from this forum in them. The 3rd of course is clearly a much improved effort from the first two. Many many hours of enjoyment.

I purchased a 1st edition last week. I did a search on google and it came up on a book company by the name of ALIBRIS Books. I paid 25.70 after a discount for being a new customer.
