Pawn shopping again today and I run across a LNIB 696-2. guy said he could do $600 OTD which would have been a pretty good price on a no dash or even -1 but seems as only an OK price for the IL. I bought it hoping the value will go up, but now Im wondering if I made the right choice. I already have a no dash, I just got this one to get it. what do you guys think?

Well, I guess we've all done it. I just love the .44 Spl's and the 696's in particular so use the -2 as a shooter and save the no dash to fondle. As to price, my theory is no S&W is too expensive you just have to wait longer to justify it.
Enjoy

I have a 696 as a carry gun. I love it. When did S&W start making a -2?

they made them as soon as the IL was introduced, they were discontinued in 2003. I believe they are more rare than the no dash and dash 1 guns

Don't feel bad about it. Shoot the hell out of both of them and enjoy them. That's what they are for. I owned a no dash 696, and foolishly traded it away before the price went out of sight.

The big M696 craze has all but died out. The price will most likely rise but at a much slower pace now.
