Just foolin' around with my toys this morning while the wife is at work, I realized how much fun model 10s are. They are a hoot to shoot and are still almost affordable to collect.
Thought I'd share a quick picture of my 3 10-5s, 2", 4", and 6" and my 10-6 4"
How about a New Years Model 10 picture thread, lets see 'em guys.
Happy New Year to All!

Only one Model 10 in my safe. I haven't fired it yet. Normally I shoot what I buy ASAP, but this one was so nice that I have just let it be a safe queen. I know, I know, Model 10s are a dime a dozen. There's just something about this one.

Which means I probably need to buy a less pristine one to shoot.

Happy New Year!

I really like my M10s and M & Ps. I consider them my "relaxed" Smith & Wessons. They shoot well, to point of aim, and have little recoil. They are great plinkers superseded only by a .22 for relaxation.

I have a 2 inch M10 as well but its waiting for pictures.

I use to pick them up from here and there for $125. Now I don't even own 1!! I think I'd really like to find a nice 5". Guess I'll have to keep looking. Those are some fine looking pieces of blued steel by the way!

I hope this one is OK. I think it's against federal law to discriminate because of age.

Here's my 'well worn' 10-6. Great to carry, great to shoot, and looks good too.

Thanks Chad! I sold the twin to yours about five years ago when I first registered on this forum. Just when I thought that my leg had healed from kicking myself over and over in the ***** you had to go post that pic!

Sorry, no model 10 but I have a nice Model 64-3. Does that count?

Those two M10s on top are spectacular! What condition! Where did you find such specimens? Or, have they been in the family for years? Thanks for posting a photo of great guns!

Have lots of Model 10s and M&Ps. The Heavy Barrel is a sentimental favorite but I like the looks of the tapered barrel better. I can't discern much difference in shooting qualities between the two in 4-inch guise.

10-5, 1967. Absolutely nothing unique about it, but I love shooting it.

I usually prefer target sights, but there's no arguing with this:

That's a good question but I haven't been able to identify the wood yet. I pulled them off and the unfinished wood is dark also. I am not a woodworker and can only guess. Maple?

ETA - I bought the revolver over the net from a dealer so I don't know who the previous owner was.

Ah, guess I should have been more clear. I was asking about the configuration and size a bit more. My bad but thanks for the answer as it sounds like you didn't make them anyways.

Currently considering a smaller set of grips than the standard Magnas for my 10-8. The Missus finds even them too big for her hands.

MacGuffin,

There are actually not that pristine. The pictures were taken in the shade of my "Doghouse" and just turned out nice.

The top, a M&P from about 1952, has a bit of blue wear on the high spots and some small pits to the right side of the barrel. But nothing that effects its shooting. I am contemplating getting rid of the faux stags, they are a bit cheesy.

The second from top is a M&P made in 1919. It also has blue wear on ths high points, someone carried it in a holster a lot. But other wise it is in excellent mechanical condition and shoots well also.

I bought them at the Albuquerque gun show two years ago.

Here's a fuzzy pic of my safequeen Model 10 HB with diamond grips. Born in 1961, I don't believe it's been fired since leaving the factory.

Wow, what a great response!
Thanks to all for showing off these great old guns. Glad to see the Model 10 is still alive and well.
Happy New Year to everyone in our "forum family"
Keep 'em coming!

Fast forward to about two years ago, Mike aka ladder13 got me a "new" Mod.64-3 SB 4"HB, SN# 30D1172! I couldn't be prouder. I later augmented the 4" with an NY-1 2". Smith really got it RIGHT with the M&Ps!!!

Model 10s rock! I am now carrying a 10-5 every day. It's every thing you need in a sidearm and nothing you don't I recently put a set of Ahrends grips on mine. They make this fine gun even better. The one thing I like about the model 10 is that when you shoot it it just hangs there with almost no recoil. This makes for very fast follow up shots. Smith & Wesson got it right when they designed the K frame

OK-here's some more! Top, transition 6", easily 99%. Bottom, 4" postwar M&P, also mint.

Next up, everyone's favorite, a 3" 10-8, modified to DAO for LAPD carry.

My Model 10's sweet guns.

My Dad had these, and passed them on to me.
The 4 and 5 incher's have been refinished.

Here's a 10-7 a postwar M&P and a pre-war M&P
