I have aquired two M 53s over the past few months, had wanted one since forever but funds were not available. Just want you all to know I have learned more here today about my Jets and realy appreciate finding others who are of like mind. I have a couple of friends who have large collections of guns, yet they have never heard of the S&W Jet. If more people were aware of what a jewel this gun is I am sure the price would be beyond my meager means.

I just got a Lyman 225107 mould on ebay thats in the mail to me I paid 127.50 for a single cavity mould that cost 7.47 in 1968 complete with the handles. I will cast some and see what this bullet will do I think this was a special Jet mould as it was not in the line up in 1954 and was dropped not to long after the 53 was discountinued in 1974. Hope to have some info before to long.

I'm glad it was someone from this forum that got it. Let us hear how it works.

I've found annealing, running once fired 357 brass 2/3 the way in the .22 Jet seating die, then in a 223 sizing die with guts removed, (straightens out the web), then all the way in 22 Jet seater die, then in .22 jet sizing die. Usually 1.28-1.30 in oal case length, I load and fire. Then trim all back to 1.27. Super easy.

Smile Jet Ammo

Been shooting and reloading Jet since they made it. Wonder if you heard of priv partizan from Serbia ? They load Jet ammo in boxes of 50; Soft Point; 45 gr;22 Rem Jet Mag PPU head stamp on the brass. The bullet mics .222 or on their box 2.9g . They must make their own 222. bullet and brass. I have a box.

Wow! Talk about a zombie thread! Anyway, seeing the mention of PRVI ammo jogged another memory. Isn’t/wasn’t there a metric equivalent to the 22 Jet made for a single shot stalking rifle in Germany back around the early 20th Century? Maybe that inspired the folks at Springfield(?)
