It sounds like a trigger post that is not mounted exactly perpendicular to the frame inside.
Either that or the hole for it bored through the trigger was drilled at an angle off of perpendicular.
Whatever, it is a quality control miss and I'd invoke the warranty to get it fixed. call S&W and get a call tag for pickup and you'll save it costing you anything including the shipping.
