I'm gonna' bump this thread because I just saw a "Mod 66 Ladysmith" for sale and never heard of such an animal.

So...what gives on this piece? Difference between it and a standard 66 snub?

If you search Ladysmith on GB, a certain ill reputed dealer who's name shall not be spoken has one listed for his usual outrageous prices. Looks to be the only difference is the frosted/bead blast finish and the "Ladysmith" engraving on the side, maybe the grips too.

I saw that one....which is what got me curious about the one I recently saw in a shop. Are they worth a premium...or is "the dealer who shall remain nameless" just putting his usual $$$ spin on that one?

Bizarre. I thought the ladysmith was a J frame snubbie, not a K frame like the model 66.

I know......but I saw a 66 (didn't handle it, so I couldn't tell you what was engraved inside the crane opening), complete with adjustable rear sight......and "Ladysmith" engraved on the sideplate. I'd never heard of a "Ladysmith" built on a 66.
I searched Gunbroker and saw another one (the one being sold by "dealer who shal remain nameless"), then did a search here and found this thread.

Back in "the day" Smith and Wesson had quite a few of their revolvers available in "LadySmith" trim.

They actually made a few LadySmith J frames and K frame revolvers. The finish was bead blasted, and the grips were either Uncle Mike Combat grips, or Rosewood Laminate (either panels, or Combat style.)

Other than the cosmetics, some of the K frame revolvers had "odd" barrel lengths. The 65LS came in 3" for instance.

The springs are a bit lighter, and the trigger is smoother on "LadySmith" revolvers vs. their regular prodcution counterparts.

Currently, I have a 65-5 and a 631 in the LadySmith trim, and if and when I find a 66LS at a "reasonable" price, I'll have that one too.

So.....what would a "reasonable" price be? I know prices vary, according to local markets, but to compare..... Would a 66 "LS" command a premium over an otherwise identical 66 "snub"?

Locally, a pre lock 65 LS LNIB with box and docs sold for $375 last August.

I would expect a similar 66 LS to bring between S550 and $600. If you have one, and wish to sell it, let me know. Regards 18DAI.

If I recall the M-65 Ladysmith .357 was 3" fixed sight gun WITH a shrouded ejector rod. I always thought that looked pretty cool! Would sure like to find one.

The whole idea behind the Ladysmith was a marketing ploy to get the woman's market. I guess it was a success so they migrated it to other models. The funny thing was, I remember reading the Gun Test review of the very first Ladysmith and they really loved the gun and lamented that it was too bad the labeling meant that men would probably not buy it.....

Lady Smiths were also available in semi-auto pistols, M3913.

Some of the earlier revolvers came with a luggage style case and an enameled or powder coated trigger lock.

I would think that $600 would be a fair price for a 66LS. I am POSITIVE that I won't be spending $1200 on one.

I have these two in my safe now, one is a 66-5 in .357 the other is a 631 in .32 Magnum.

Then again, an unscrupulous dealer MIGHT take a regular M66, bead-blast it, and put a M65 LS sideplate on it, creating a one-of-a-kind...

I'm not sure about a 2 1/2" model 66LS but I own a model 65-5ls, seen here with Hogue rubbers.

I took the rosewood combats off and put them on my model 66-2.



The model 65LS is a great CCW piece and I often wondered why they only made this configuration in the LadySmith version. I like the shrouded ejector rod better than the exposed.

Here is the gun in question 2 1/2 inch 66-4 lady smith. One year only. I picked it up for $500 last year with the Ladysmith bag. Of course, it is now claimed by my wife.
