Just saw, once again, the movie "Electraglide in Blue", made in the '70s with Robert Blake as the lead. He played a motorcycle officer during the turbulent '60s-'70s. What I didn't remember from the first seeing (around '75 or so) is that he carried a Pinto Colt Python. Very, very nice looking gun. There are great closeup shots (no pun intended) of his revolver. BUT, and this is the part that I picked immediately this go around, his sidekick had a N frame fixed sight S&W, probably a .44 of some kind. Looked like a 4" or 5" bbl. Anyway since I saw the movie the first time, I'm more interested in guns so I think this is the first time I remember seeing a Pinto gun on screen. So, two questions: anyone remember another movie with a Pinto gun featured AND what was the model of the fixed sight S&W?

I think Zipper's gun may have been a .38/44 Heavy Duty or a 3rd Model .44 Hand Ejector. It has an ejector rod shroud under the barrel.
Interesting note, the Colt Pinto was the director's personal gun.

The barrel kinda' looks thicker than a 38/44 HD. Also, the Director's gun! Dang, not only does it get dropped in the dirt at the end when Zipper get it but the gun flops around on the ground a couple of times when Blake gets zapped at the end.

Man, I love that movie and my family just doesn't get it. I guess you had to live during those "turbulent" times to realize how wacky it really was. I am going to have to watch it again (I have it on VHS) and check out the guns...yeah!
