A 29-4 on top and a 27-2 below.

I should state for full disclosure that as of August 21, 2008... I did not own any revolvers. This is a serious addiction and was fast moving on moi.

Great looking family you have there. Don't forget the Model 15 and the 6" barreled 586. You are beyond the point of no return by the way. So revel in your illness. I've been infected for the past six years.

So looking at your avatar I'm assuming you were with the 10th Mountain at Ft. Drum. I remember well the frigid winters of the North Country and lovely Watertown. I was there from 1996-2000, 110th M.I. Battalion. I actually seperated from the Army at Ft. Drum. How about yourself? Career Army?

Wow, I was there the same time. Did you know Crawford Clark? I was in the 10th Band. Crawford was one of our guys that OJT's with 11oth MI. He sang the National Anthem at al of the COC ceremonies.

I actually bought a house in Watertown and planned on staying there but the Army had other plans. I stayed for another 5 years and got out here in VA.

Climb to Glory.
Oh and I have a 15.... it is the snubbie on top.

I didn't know him but I remember hearing his name and I remember his singing. I remember you guys also. I seem to recall a divison run in 98 or 99 and the band was there playing for us. Is my memory correct?

Wait a minute was Crawford a cop before joining the Army? If I'm remembering correctly then yes I knew him.

My wife and I actually considered staying in the area, but a death in the family occurred in 98 back here in Idaho. I got emergency leave and we flew over, but it made us realize that our friends and family are here in Idaho and Oregon.

I recieved a medical discharge/retirement from the Army (eight years active and six years in the Army Guard before that) and I now get a small disability pension from the VA.

Before Ft. Drum I was with the 1/4 Infantry (OPFOR) at the Combat Manuver Training Center at Hohenfels, Germany. I actually requested the 10th Mountain. I'd always wanted to wear that unit patch since I was a little kid and read about the division in Italy in WW 2. Just one of those things and I'm happy to say I was part of that division if only for a few years.

Oh and you do have a Model 15 snubbie. Good work. I've never been able to find one of those. Just the four inchers. But you still need a 6" 586. I say the 6" version because that was the first one S&W introduced in 1980 and it just seems to look right IMHO. I also own a 4" 686 which I like, but I get the idea that your all about the blued models.

I also got out on a medical. We did play for the division runs, but only a handful of us. The rest of us had to run with the rest of PSB. I chose to run most of the time. It was too cold just standing there all morning.

Did you deploy to Bosnia? That was a trip in many many ways. I am really happy that I got to serve in the 10th. I loved my time at Ft Drum.

I do want a 581 or 586. I almost traded my last Glock for a 581 but the M17 popped up first. Yeah I am a blued guy through and through.

Amazing. He told us how he got in trouble and eventually resigned. At the time I thought it sounded strange, but didn't think anything about it. I've been a cop for the past eight years now and I realize there was a whole lot that he wasn't telling us.

It really is a small world. See around on the forum.

He was a good friend and married this chick from my church...what a mess that was. He was a BS'er for sure but a funny guy.

Take care, glad to meet up with a fellow member of the 10th.

Okay I'm not done yet. No I did not deploy to Bosnia. My wife was pregnant with our second kid in 97 and my commander said I could stay in CONUS if I wanted.

Sorry to all those fire breathers out there, but I was happy to stay in CONUS. It was an option that enlisted men don't usually get presented with.I took it.

By the time the second deployment took place in 99 I was going through the medical evaluation/seperation process and was no longer deployable. My lower back is all goobered up in case you're curious.

The North County had harsh winters, but it was a lovely part of the country. The politics drove me a little batty. That state is totally dominated by New York City. But I'll alwasy have fond memories of it.

Yeah, no fire breather here, I was in the band...LOL. I had the same thing with the current war. I was supposed to be PCS'd to Ft Stuart then to Iraq but I was going through the med board and was put out instead.

I loved the Spring time in the North Country. I guess if I were a hunter it would have been paradise. But I am a Civil War buff so here in VA I have found a history lovers Disney World.

Scott my name is Jeff. Checkman is an inside joke. I was a detective for a few years before returning to patrol. I investigated alot of frauds so the other detective called me checkman. Bad checks get it?

Did you ever get over to Springfield, Mass and tour the S&W factory and see the Springfield Armory Museum? My dad and I toured the factory in July of 99 and also visited the Armory. Which is only a mile or two away. It was a great trip.

Jeff I wish I would have done that. I was in and out of Mass and Springfield a lot during my time there but you know, I was not into Smiths back then. I did not want to know about anything other than guitars and semi auto drastic plastic guns. I was foolish in my youth I guess...LOL. I would love to have gone into LE but I went into the GS system. Ah well, can't have it all I guess.

Back in 99 I was all about military surplus rifles (Mausers, Lee-Enfields) and lever action rifles. But my dad was a big S&W fan and I knew he would like a tour of the factory. Plus I was also curious about how a gun factory worked.

As a Civil War reenactor you would have loved the Springfield Armory. They have an "organ" of 1863 Springfield muskets. A least a couple hundred muskets in LNIB condition. Never issued to troops, never taken out of of the armory. The park ranger told me that they still had hundred of muskets and trapdoor conversions sitting in the crates in a warehouse at the armory.

A Civil War buffs dream.
