Default Anybody got a 3-inch M25-3 in .45 ACP from 1977?

I would love to see a picture of it! I tried a number of searches, but only found one mention. Kind of thought there would be an old thread on this model. Anyway, as I'm sure many here are aware, it is listed in SCSW as a Lew Horton gun with only 100 made (but no picture). Are they around?

Was this the first of the 3" big bore snubbies?

Did it have the finger groove combats, and was this their first appearance?

Perhaps a more important question: can anyone provide a brief history of Lew Horton's relationship to the factory and the whats and whens of the first 'Lew Horton' specials? (similar to the very interesting history posted recently about H.H. Harris in Chicago)

I am a big bore snubby fan and this is the first I have heard of this gun.

I am very interested to hear if anyone has seen, shot, owned or seen
a picture of this gun.

Anybody?

OK, has anybody looked it up in the SCSW? I saw this in the 3rd ed. (I think that's the most recent one?). Mr. Supica? doc?

I bet Toroflow has one. or at least would know something about it.

+1 on the Jovino Effector. That is the only one I know of that was a model 25.
The only 3" Smith came out with close to that was the 3" 625 in stainless.
Now remember S&W just put out the 3" 25,29 for Lew Horton.

I have looked for this LH 25-3 3" for over two years. Found two, but they were'nt selling. It has been my grail gun that I've searched high and lo for. I would pay a pretty penny for one if I found it.

Hey I found the reference. Page 193 of the SCSW under the production changes. It shows in 1977 100 25-3 with a 3" barrel and round butt was made special for Lew Horton.
It does not have the serial number. I would letter the gun and see if it was shipped to Lew Horton.

Foodfuzz: Not the Jovino - it was a custom affair (and very cool in its own right). This is, I presume, the first of the 3" LH guns from the factory. The M24 (1983), M29 (1984), M624, M629, etc. and M625 of 1989 all followed.

So, TXSWFAN, tell us what you saw. Did it have the finger groove Goncalo Alves grips? I am guessing that it would have looked just like the M24 - 0.4" serrated trigger, target hammer, RR, etc.

Leonard: yes, it always helps to see one of those Jovinos. As txswfan mentioned for the M25 in question, tho, one rarely sees them for sell. thanks

I really thought this question would generate more response . . . now I'm just more curious than ever. Does anyone know what was the first LH Big Bore Snubbie?
