1961.... what was available?
Ok, I was made that year so I am wondering how hard it would be to find a Model 19 snub nose from that year?
Was the Model 29 out then too? Sorry, I am not sure at all on when these were released and if there are large numbers of them out there. It would be fun to have one that was made when I was!

Bang
Welcome to the forum
The 44 magnum was introduced in 1956, by 1961 it would have been the -1/-2 variant. The Combat Magnum was intro'd in 1957 and by 61 would have been the 19-2. The snubby 19 (2 1/2") did not see standard production until about 1966 (my birth year) although there were a few made prior.
Go on Ebay or the like and see if you can find a Gun Digest from 1961, or a little harder to find, a S&W All Model Circular from that year. This will give you a good start.
Happy hunting

That might not be to hard to find some type
of S&W that you would like that was made in that
year. It more than likely would harder and more costly
to find a S&W that was nice and made when I was born.

Ok.. I want a snubbie Model 19 then, made in '61! If not that.... how bout a 36?
I also want back, my model 19 4" that I bought new in 1980!! I can't believe I traded it off... for a Llama 22 (looked like a 45 auto) and even got some cash back too! ha ha ha
Dang kids anyways!

The 36 wont be a problem, although I would prefer a 40. The first snubby 19's were in about 63, but there was a very small lot of them made.
FWIW I set out to buy one of every model made in 1966, and have had no luck at all, but I do have several from 61.
