Default 36 backstrap corrosion

I carry my mod 36 in a galco stow-n-go IWB holster and in the past few months i have been starting to get some corrosion on the backstrap where it makes contact with my stomach. I don't want to change to another holster and I definitely don't want to go to a closed backstrap grip. I have been cleaning and oiling at the end of every day but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I have the original wood grips that I love because of the way they look and feel (I have a smaller hand). I've heard of people slipping something like a piece of a bicycle inter tube over the grip, which i'm not crazy about and just recently someone suggested covering the back strap with Pachmayr's Pac-Skin.

Does anyone else have a suggestion? Thanks.

Black paint??? It would be removable with acetone later.

Default Kroil

Rub on some Kroil with fine bronze wool, let it soak overnight, rub with Kroil & fine bronze wool again. This should remove the corrosion, and not damage the bluing. Apply a little Kroil to the entire gun occaisionally to keep the corrosion in check. "The oil that creaps" really works well against rust.

I sweat like a pig in the summer and my blued guns take a beating from my salt water sweat. Check to be sure you're not getting corrosion under those nice grips.

Hi:
Do you wear an under shirt or does the weapon touch bare skin?
You might consider a Model 60 or have your weapon re.finished in a more rust resistance finish.

Try some good quality wax.
I carried a Stainless J frame for 2 weeks last summer, And wound up getting rust under the grips,,,, I now carry a Nickel model 37, I actually turn the back strap on the nickel gun whitish in about 2 sweaty days... But no rust.
It may just be what it is!

+1 and wear an Under Armour shirt. The 2 together will keep the corrosions down and the shirt is great for wicking the sweat away on them hot summer days.

Another clothing tip is Columbias fishing shirts for them hot summer days. Since I bought my first one for golfing I went out and bought 7 of them. They breathe and do a fantastic job of concealing a weapon. I've worn my 3" 657 which is a winter CCW with these shirts OWB and you can't tell I have that big ol "N" frame on.

That sounds good I'll try that, and then some wax. I've heard a lot of good about renaissance wax but have never seen it for sale. Is that the stuff to use or is there something better or more readily available?
I do usually wear an undershirt with an un-tucked button up shirt and I've tried to tuck the undershirt in so its in between the gun and myself, but its just not comfortable. lately i'll just go with shorts and a t-shirt since its summer time and that gives me even fewer options.

I haven't had time to try anything yet, or even carry. I'm on vacation and we've been hitting the National parks in Utah (arches and canyon lands) and Colorado (no reciprocity with Ohio).

re: Renaissance Wax/Polish

I've been using it, especially on nickel guns. It would work great to protect the backstrap on blued or nickel guns. Here's the info on it:

Reaaissance Product information

This is where I bought mine:
