My 15-2...refinished?
I bough this Model 15-2 a couple months ago and my question is has it been refinished. By looking at it if it has it was a hell of a good job. The serial nimber is K772XXX. There are no markings on the face of the cylinder, on the bottom of the grip frame under the grips is the serial number and on the side an S. I don't believe the grips are original but there is no serial number on them. I like the way they fit in my hand though. The trigger and hammer are gold in color and the trigger has a shoe on it. I'm not really concerned with it as it is a shooter, i was just curious.

Hard to say about the gun but the hammer and trigger is not original for sure.

Look for an "N" stamped on the left side bottom of the grip frame and possibly on the cylinder face as well. If there is no N on the butt it's a refinish. As for the grips, there's no way to tell because targets were not numbered to the gun, and because they're smooth there's no diamond to look for.

I took the grips off and in all the mentioned spots it has a S instead of an N

1. Having the hammer and trigger plated makes me VERY suspicious about the rest of it.
2. It looks like a pretty good job, but to my eye the screw holes appear slightly dished, a sign of polishing for refinish.
3. Should have an N stamped under the stocks if original nickel.
Conclusion: A blued gun dressed up by someone with flashy tastes.
I could live with the nickel but something would have to be done about that gold plating.
