These smooth elk stocks were originally square butt versions for the Model 12 I reworked to fit my RB. Patrick graciously offered to modify them himself but I took a stab at it to save him the trouble. Great guy to deal with.

Here is my 29-2 with Grasshorn grips:

I have relatively large palms with short fingers. Patrick made my grips a tad thinner at the bottom than normal N-frame Magnas to accomodate me. I love them! I had them made with no "bark" so I wouldn't have permanent marks on my hand from shooting full-house .44 Magnum rounds. These were my first Grasshorn grips, but they won't be my last!

A re-built 4th Model 44 Hand Ejector, which I think could also be called a Model of 1950 44 Target, wearing a pair of Mr Grasshorn's stocks:

And the nickled gun is a 1953 vintage 38/44 Heavy Duty 4" with another example of his handiwork:

I am confident I'll be getting more stocks from him in the future. (smile)

Here are a few shots of my first set of Patricks Elk Stags. They are on a model 27-2 w/ 3 1/2" barrel. They won't be my last.

After I finally acquired a revolver nice enough to merit stags, Patrick came through.
A great craftsman who is a pleasure with whom to correspond.
And El Paso Saddlery leather compliments it nicely:

BBQ, anyone?

Talking Fossile Bone Grips

Patrick made these Alaskan Fossil Bone grips a couple of years ago for my M28s. He told me it would chancy cutting into the 25000 yearold material but if I was willing to take a chance he would see what he could do. The results, as you can see are outstanding! Patrick is an artist and a super guy to deal with. I have 4 sets of his work and plans for more.

I was very impressed with the fit and quality of his work. He even made my grips a little thicker than normal for my big hands.

If anyone else is interested in his work, here's his contact info:

Default A great man

I'am the proud owner of two grips from Patrick.
One for my 19 2.5" and the other one for my 4" mod 29.
They both display wonderful craftmanship.
What is more, Patrick and Rose are wonderful people.
I am very proud to call him friend.

Thank you all for your contributions to this thread.
Hope it will give ideas to others.

Smile

P.S.: I am a photograph of the worst breed .. Anyway will try try to post pics later.

Here are few pics of my 27-9 with a set from Patrick's. I think they are pretty sharp on this nickel .357. I will say they fit well and are functional as well. Patrick was a pleasure to do business with could not be more pleased. This 27-9 is a new addition my jury is out on if it needs a little work on the action and not sure if i like the target trigger? Double action pull seems a little heavy compared to my 27-8 and pre-27. Many fine side arms here with Patrick's grips on them.

Thanks RB

Default Grashorn grips

He did the grips for my little fun Smith ...they came a bit too white for my taste and I put them in a mild tea solution overnight to age them a bit.

Patrick as well as being an artisan is also a great person to work with. I really like the look and feel of his full bark stag grips. Here are some of the grips he has made for me.

I'm a little late to this party. I don't have any Grashorn stags on my revolvers but I do have a few sets for 1911s, including these mounted on my Colt Compact. I think they set off the high polish and blue perfectly.

Default New gips on the 27-2, 3 1/2 inch

Patrick Grasshorn picture thread-27-2-28-2-jpg

I guess you will need to click the pic to enlarge it.

27-2 German import stamped with Grasshorn stags.

It took a lot of looking and now for some leather.

Awesome gun and those stocks make their mark.

Thumbs up Elk Grips

I asked Patrick for very little bark showing. I was hopping that the contrast with a bright blue finish would show each off to good affect.

Faux Ivory or MOP I thought might clash with the finish. That is just my opinion.

Love the grips. But the brown background sure as heck doesn't work!
