Default 629 "44 caliber" marked revolver

I found a revolver at a local dealer that is one of those guns that was given to CD customers of an Alaskan bank several years ago. It appears to be a Model 629 and on one side of the barrel is marked "1 of 1000" and "1988 Iditarod." On the other side of the barrel it is marked "Smith & Wesson" and "44 Caliber" not 44 magnum! The bank's logo is on the side plate.

I can't find much info about these either here, on by searching the internet. Anyone care to comment on what it might be worth and anything special about them?

hmmmmm why would you think it was other than a standard 629 with just special printing on it ? Have you asked S&W about it ? What was stamped in the yoke ?

Default SW Iditarod 629-1

I have this same revolver with identical markings and I am also seeking information on it. I think I'll contact SW for authentication. To answer the above question, the yoke is stamped 629-1 and my serial number begins AKI00XX
