Great looking modern 44 Magnum. I didn't realize S&W had stopped serrating the backstrap. I had a couple 4-inch 629-5s recently and they were serrated. Curious. Anyway, looks to be in very nice shape. Hope you enjoy it!

One sweet revolver! Congratulations.
I doubt you can eliminate muzzle flip with a .44, but if you haven't tried a grip that rotates the frame further down into your hand, you might experiment and see how it works for you. I picked that up from a Jerry Miculek video.
I have a 629-6, same gun but with the internal lock. These stainless .44s are very authoritative pieces of steel.

shooting 629's
Actually I saw a Jeff Cooper video on youtube which I have yet to try out. He says your supposed to grip a pistol (revolver or auto) as high on the grip as possible to get the barrel in line with your hand. The grip I saw you use in the video is very similar to how I shoot. Like I say I haven't had a chance to try Cooper's recommendation yet. Food for thought.

shootin 629
By the way, mind sharing what you paid for it. I have a couple 629's customized by Mag-Na-Port I'm considering selling and if you could share it would help.

Here is another grip suggestion. The standard OEM S&W .460/.500 Magnum Hogue monogrip pads the backstrap of the RB K, L, N, & X-frames. Great help in recoil management - and, they allow a higher hand hold - to put the recoil 'line of action' down your wrist & arm instead of producing a more rotational moment about your wrist. In other words, not so nasty a recoil and potentially less muzzle rise. All for $37 + s/h from S&W Accessories. I have them for both my 4" and 6" (shown) 629-6's for 'real' Magnums. For.44 Russians to wimpy Magnums, I use wood grips.
The scope, a Weaver H2 2x28 on a Weigand rail, made it too big for simple rug carry in my range bag. Nice for 50-110yd plinking - probably hunting - but it was on & off in a few weeks last fall.

Very nice gun, watch were you keep your thumb on your left hand. A little higher and it's going to hurt.
